City Year Kicks Off New School Year in 349 Schools Nationwide

Across the country, City Year’s 3,000 AmeriCorps members are celebrating the start of a new service year in our 349 partner schools, serving 234,000 students each day. City Year’s remarkable corps members serve as full-time tutors, mentors and role models—Student Success Coaches—providing students with academic, social and emotional support to help them succeed.

City Year Receives Grant to Build Network for School Improvement

 
 

City Year, in partnership with the Everyone Graduates Center at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Education, has received a $520,000 grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation as part of the foundation’s Networks for School Improvement (NSI) portfolio.

Beginning with a pilot in Milwaukee, this grant will support City Year’s efforts to connect and convene leadership teams from 10 middle schools to develop their capacity for continuous improvement to help schools close opportunity gaps and improve performance.
